No heat on a Frigidaire electric dryer follows the same path as any electric dryer. The first component to check is the thermal limiter — Frigidaire’s term for the thermal fuse or thermal cutout. It’s a one-time safety device that blows when the dryer overheats, almost always from a clogged exhaust vent. Frigidaire dryers use a two-piece thermal limiter assembly, and both pieces should be tested with a multimeter for continuity. The most important thing to address alongside any limiter replacement is the vent itself — a limiter that blows once will blow again if the restriction isn’t cleared.
E11 — Fill time error. The washer tried to fill but didn’t reach the expected water level in time. Causes: partially closed supply valves, clogged inlet valve screens, low water pressure, or a failed inlet valve solenoid. Start by confirming both supply valves are open, then inspect the inlet screens.
E21 — Drain time error. Start with the drain pump filter. If clear, check the drain hose for kinks and test the pump motor. E21 is the most straightforward Frigidaire error because the cause is almost always mechanical rather than electronic.
Other codes: E31 (pressure sensor fault), E41 (door lock fault), E68 (heating element fault on steam models). Most clear with a five-minute unplug — but if the underlying cause isn’t addressed, the code returns.
Front-load Frigidaire washers use shock absorbers — typically two at the bottom front — to dampen drum movement during spin. When they wear out, the drum moves excessively and the machine vibrates significantly. The shaking usually gets worse gradually over months. Run an empty spin cycle: shaking consistent regardless of load size suggests leveling or absorber wear; shaking increasing with drum speed strongly indicates absorber wear. Absorbers are replaced as a pair and require front panel removal. Always verify machine leveling alongside absorber replacement.
A Frigidaire dryer that produces heat but leaves clothes damp has a restricted airflow problem in the vast majority of cases. The exhaust vent is always the first place to check. If airflow is good, the next causes are worn drum seals allowing heat to escape, a partially failed heating element, or a cycling thermostat cutting heat too early.
